Happy Birfday Jake!

Mar 3, 12:14 PM · from the mouth of Tyler

Yeay for Jake, the first among us to get to that next year in life. Enjoy the final year of your twenties. Next year is a big one!

I actually dreamt about you last night, Jake. I dreamt that you played the piano for the final episodes of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, (which apparently taped only recently). Then you posted about it here on GoofyGuys. It was funny… you were telling us about how well you did, considering you’re not a pianist. You specifically said “It was like I WAS the piano!”

Then I watched the episode, which you posted online, and sure enough, there was a nice piano accompaniment. But the episode was weird. Mr. Rogers knew he was dying, and he had a special guest on who was a nice 3rd-grade-teacher-ish woman who was supposedly the Angel of Death. And then Ernie (of Sesame Street fame) was on the show and died (or faked dying, not sure which) in a scene slightly reminiscent of the Wicked Witch’s “I’m melting!” scene. It was all very strange, yet Mr. Rogers was still relatively upbeat about his eminent demise.

So on that note, hope your birthday was a happy one!

Just had to post this. After finding the above picture, I found this article online of the 15 Reasons Mister Rogers was the Best Neighbor Ever. It’s worth the five minute read.

What a great piece. I’m proud to say that Mr. Rogers went to Dartmouth (though according to this article he dropped out) just like me!

My mom once got me a daily calendar of Mr. Rogers quotes. I saved a couple, which still sit right above this iMac. Predictably, they’re both about music:

“As you play together in a symphony orchestra, you can appreciate that each musician has something fine to offer. Each one is different, though, and you each have a different ‘song to sing.’ When you sing together, you make one voice. That’s true of all endeavors, not just musical ones. Finding ways to harmonize our uniqueness with the uniqueness of others can be the most fun—and the most rewarding—of all.”

“Music has given me a way of expressing my feelings and my thoughts, and it has also given me a way of understanding more about life.”

Random… Apparently, since last month, the newest star of the musical, Spamalot, is none other than American Idol’s Clay Aiken! Looks like he actually make a pretty good Sir Robin! Now I want to see it even MORE!

    Thanks guys!

My birthday went pretty well and was relaxing. I wish you guys could have made it to Eli Cannon’s.

Sadly since then I’ve been all over the place. I acquired a sickness again for something like the fourth time in three weeks. I stayed home yesterday and left early today. I think I’m feeling a little better, I just wanna be healthy for Winter League next week. The playoffs are starting. :-)

That is an awesome dream, I’m glad you could remember it and share. Every once in a while I have bizarre dreams like that.

Ya wanna know what really blows about Spamalot? Couts is taking kids from the high school so Pete’s gonna get to see it in May.

I had a dream about you Ty a few days after this and I now wish I wrote it down sooner. It’s starting to go fuzzy…

You, I think Jaime (it didn’t look like Jaime, but I remember thinking it was him in the dream), and I were dealing with a large tree threatening your house. It was in the back yard near a small garden and it was looking a little worse for wear. With a storm brewing we devised a plan to get the tree out without it crashing through your roof.

Sadly that’s about where it gets fuzzy. I believe it became a bit more wacky after that. Dealing with forest creatures and other fun stuff like that. :-)
