Incredible Time Lapse

Sep 6, 01:29 AM · from the mouth of Tyler

Well we need SOMETHING going on over here…

I found this amazing video on Gizmodo. It’s a time lapse of the night sky, showing the arm of the Milky Way rising like you’ve never seen it before. The red lights in the bottom corners are the other participants in this star party in Texas where this was shot. Click on the video to see it on Vimeo in HD and to read the interesting comments about how it was shot.

And of course, watch it in full screen!

You know… I know it’s not allowed seeing as I’m not a guy and all… but just a hint that maybe if I had my own login more posts from Colorado might be created. Having Jim log in for me doesn’t happen. LoL. All I can do right now is respond to stuff :)

Great idea! Sarahmonster, you’re definitely one of the guys. I set you up with an account. The interface said it’d email you with login info. I set it up with your gmail address, but I think you can change that if you want.

    Hooray for more postings!

Hmmm… Well I was thinking about doing some fall cleaning. But we’ve run out of colors. There could be two options. significant others share color with their “guy” or I come up with similar hues. I could also confiscate colors from defunct authors, but that would feel a little weird.

As long as I’m here, I’ll post some baby pics. :)

Here’s Kieran before his first day of school:

“Defunct authors” haha. I’m cool with sharing a color with Jimmy. Makes sense to me. THANKS SO MUCH!! :D

Ty- love the pics!! School already, wow! I’m sure he’ll be great. And I love the bath pic!!

OK, I’ll have to figure out the easiest way to do it. Adding in the colors is straight forward but the code for filtering out articles and all that jazz is a little more complex.

Right now I’m working on updating Textpattern a bit… The whole thing could probably use a bit of an overhaul to begin with. If anyone has any thoughts on this now is the time to mention it. ;-)

Oh, okay, well, if there’s any way to make it easier to embed YouTube videos, that’d be cool. Currently, I think the only way to do it is to go into textpattern after posting an article, and add it in that way. Plus, I don’t think you can embed videos in comments. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Don’t know if this is possible, and don’t kill yourself trying to make it work… but if it’s an easy fix, that’d be cool.

Well I’m not sure where the issue with youtube comes from in the actual articles, though with all the updates it may function better now, I haven’t tried (if I see something funny today I will). As for the coments, that’s more an anti-spam measure. The system strips out html to prevent maliscious scripts being inserted in comments. But in the main articles it should work, don’t let me forget about fixing it. ;-)

OK, so things that I did update. Along with the system upgrade… I also have started tweaking the footers, and added Sarah to the front page. The footers on the front were kinda pointless (not many people look through a calendar to find posts). On the individual pages we now have some relevant lists of articles to move people along (I’m gonna see if the latest posts can have the current author removed so there’s less redundancy).

Keep the suggestions coming and Sarah, we expect a post in the near future. ;-)

    Thanks, Iak!

    Love the “More Goofiness” footer!

Here, I’ll test the YouTube thing… This is a video from my Uncle Mike’s party over the weekend. The Blaney brothers were there (the band that played at my wedding) and Kieran was a dancing fool!

It didn’t work in the initial comment, but when I went into admin and pasted the embedding info into the comment there, then it worked.

Well I updated the fonts and things. Still some more tweaking to do. If only I had the time to overhaul the CSS… I can dream. ;-)

So I figure I’ll keep posting into here (maybe a post about updates would be better… I’ll do that next)…

I’ve been trying to think of things to include in here, in places like the front page’s footer. One thought I had seemed like a good idea but might not work very well since Tyler and I are the only people (I know of) that have Flickr accounts. But wouldn’t it be cool to get a listing of the latest photos on the front page? So I started playing with Yahoo! Pipes and in about 5 minutes created a new feed that merged the photo feeds of Tyler and I (cause there’s no way to do it on Flickr without making a group we’d have to put our pics in manually, this would be automagic). Now I’d just need to tweak and pop it on the front page. Thoughts?

Not entirely sure what you mean by that, but it sounds cool! Go for it! The Spampoles and Cantrarrises should set up Flickr accounts too. Jim and Sarah could either post (watermarked) Asante pics, or pics of their lives outside of the studio. Jake and I both have Pro accounts ($25/year) but even the free account is worth having…

I say go for it! :)
