Arthur's Day

Sep 24, 06:57 PM · from the mouth of Tyler

Today is September 24th, and is Arthur’s Day!! It’s the 250th anniversary of Guinness! Everyone have a toast to our favorite Irish brewer. Cheers!

On a semi-side note, you all know I’ve always struggled with my weight. Well, last week I started Weight Watchers, and so far I’m off to a good start. But I was missing beer. So I did a little search to see how many “points” are in a Guinness, and I stumbled upon this article about a guy who lost 65lbs while drinking dark beer and whiskey the whole time!

It looks like they Photoshopped shamrocks out of the condensation.

So that 250 th anniversary beer… Yeah, you can only get it here, Australia, and for some reason, Singapore. They don’t sell it in Ireland. Just thought I’d point that out since I had so many people tell me to drink it over there. =)

Singapore?! Odd. Anywho, my mom and I had a quick discussion yesterday about the 250th anniversary, and both of us picked up 6-packs on our way home from work. I got standard Guinness Draught, and she got the 250th Anniversary edition. And though I didn’t do a definitive taste test side by side, I didn’t REALLY notice a lot of difference. Just that the Draught, as we all know, has that nitrogen widget that makes it smooth and creamy, and the 250 didn’t, giving it a more standard head and carbonation level.

We went to Hershey, Pennsylvania last month, and the hotel we stayed at had an Irish Pub. I tried the 250 there, on draft, and it was MMMM MMMM GOOD!

In other news, my parents have sold their house. Or at least they’re under contract to do so, so we’re gonna be moving sometime soon. The buyers have given us until May to stay in the house. Who knows what we’ll do… We may stay in the area, or not. I even mentioned the idea of moving to Ireland, and my mom isn’t opposed. Other ideas we’ve tossed around are Portland, ME, and Burlington, VT. I’d love to move to either of those towns, and Jess and my mom are on board. But my dad doesn’t want to leave his schools in New Haven, so we’ll see what happens…

Ireland? I don’t really need another excuse to visit… But OK, I could live with that. ;-)

How is this gonna affect your job TyTy?

Well, that was all talk. Fun talk, but just talk none the less. I have no idea what’s going to happen, but if I had to guess, I probably won’t be leaving the area (and hence, my job) and my parents will either buy another house big enough for all of us, or this will be the kick in the ass Jess and I need to buy our own place.

    Stay tuned!

Whoa Tyty. I hope it all works out so everyone has a place to stay… what prompted the sale? This seems a little out of the blue. But way to imagine other fun places to live!

Dammit, once again I lost my password to textpattern. I could have sworn I’ve gotten a new one sometime in the last 2 years, but it’s not anywhere in my e-mails. Sigh.

Anyhow, the real reason for this comment that should have been a post is to wish Tyler a HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY! Welcome to the distinguished older gentlemen’s club, sir! In fact, now that Tyler has caught up, I move to henceforth call ourselves the Goofy Gentlemen. Who’s with me?!

Wow, I can already hear that idea falling flat, like a tree in the woods with no one around…

I reset it for you Andrew. It’s possible the new update messed something up.
