It's gettin' real - the decline of film

Oct 5, 02:28 PM · from the mouth of Jim

Oy, well there Iaky-poo, looks you and I need to get ourselves some new cameras. Cuz if we don’t go digital soon, the film choices are just going to keep shrinking and shrinking. Kodak had announced that it was going to do some major downsizing and restructuring, and now it’s getting real.

Yeah, I’d have to say it’ll probably end up like B/W is now. Available, but on a little display space in the back. It’s one of those things that will never really go away. Like physical books, or jokes about April.

But I defintely need to get a digital camera sometime in the next year or so. I just moved my large credit card debt over to a 2 year loan. So hopefully I’ll get rid of that in the near future and not be paying 16% or whatever my credit card company was charging me every month.

How’d you do that exactly, Jake? That sounds like a great idea. I calculated our collective debt, and including Jess’s school loans, you could buy a new Volvo it that figure were positive and not negative!

    TyTy,

Well when I bought my Powerbook (lovingly referred to as Peanut Butter) I took out a loan (from MBNA) and then paid it off in like 5 months. Securing a return of the extra they were charging me.

Shortly after that they realized they owed me 100 bucks and after paying me off they’d lose me forever.

Being the dependant bitches that they are I started getting offers from them to open a “get rid of debt” loan that I could move funds to. So I opened it up and although it’s not as low as I was hoping (10% instead of 6%, though I did whine to get them to shave a couple points off) I now have a monthly payment, like my car, and there’s no overpayment penalties.

I took it out for 2 years, so my monthly payment is kinda high. But the golf will be paid off in May so I can throw twice the ammount of money at it and hopefully get rid of it. Now I just have to trim down my credit card spending and try to save up some money for things like Car insurance and stuff. At least that’s what I’m hoping for.

If you have any more questions let me know.
